Singer/songwriter Broni (yes, one word, like Cher) is the first to admit that a lot can happen in two years. In 2007, he was toiling in empty pubs on the band circuit when he gave himself some advice: “Don’t sell yourself short – take a chance and be free”. Two years later, that mantra would become a part of “You Can Dance at any Age”, one of the tracks off his debut solo album Every thought I’ve had since I was 10, released in 2009 on Psycho Janitor Records nationwide and worldwide digitally.

With influences ranging far and wide from Ray Lamontagne and Bernard Fanning to Death Cab for Cutie, Broni has used the stage and studio to fine-tune his craft. He has played alongside some of Australia’s best in Bob Evans and Ella Hooper, and was even invited to perform at the 2008 Falls Festival. Every thought I’ve had since I was 10 follows on from 2007’s Simone EP and 2008’s sophomore Me and Martin EP, and is his first foray into LP territory, with 12 songs and even an audio commentary track.

The range of places that music can take people and the ability to keep it fresh is what inspires Broni, as exhibited in the catchy first single lifted from the album Trying, Always Changing and the juxtaposed ballad Try to Believe. We Can Dream tells of being unafraid to reach for the stars, an attitude which the aspiring musician is unapologetic for.

Every thought I’ve had since I was 10 (the title lifted from album closer “Milkbars and flowers”) tells of love and love lost, of hopes, dreams and aspirations. Songs that are melancholic and poignant, to others that are cheeky and fun. Broni has the ability to make you smile, reflect, or chuckle to yourself – be it on record, performing with his full band, or simply alone on stage with his guitar ”Martin”.

Full of confidence and armed with a swag of songs, a growing fan-base and a brilliant backing band, Broni is ready to make his dreams reality. And he hopes you’re along for the ride of his life.
